16 Mar – Split long one

I love running with others, but I very rarely get to do so. My parents were starting over this weekend so I got a rare opportunity to run with them. They aren’t really up for the length of run on my schedule today so I went out for an easy half marathon before coming back to do another 4 miles or so with them and Jules.

Aiming for 8mins per mile for the half, I managed exactly that. Nailed on. I was also trying some new nutrition strategies. Normally I glug some water and then don’t carry any, but this time I had a sports drink with me and didn’t need to reach for the gels in my pocket. I never felt depleted and was full of energy enough to head out again straight away for the second run.

Run 2 was casual, with occasional sprints and a hill repeat, just for fun. It was lovely to run with my parents and I’m so proud of their running achievements, having taken up the sport so late.
